Dear City Bible Church Family and Special Friends,

I want to again personally express my thankfulness to God and His provision and to each of you for your financial gifts this past year. I thank each of you, whether you attend City Bible Church and call it your church home, or those very special people in our lives who attend elsewhere yet lovingly gave and planted seed into the ministry and outreach of City Bible Church. It is only through your generous hearts that we were able to see all that God has done and will continue to do through this local body in the new year as we follow Him…

May I take this opportunity to share with you some special thoughts from my heart

Numbers 14:24:

“But my servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed me fully (wholeheartedly) I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.”

The story of the Israelite’s at the edge of the Promised Land isn’t much different than us today. The body of Christ hears and reads the promises of God and His desires to use us to promote and expand His Kingdom but (but is the word that always give entrance to doubt.) Doubts are the giants of reasons, circumstances, fears, refusal to change that keep us on the bank of the river just looking over into the promised land. Two men out of twelve held the keys that made the difference in possessing the land of promise. Are you ready to enter in?

Three keys open the door of what God has promised us individually and corporately.

First is worthiness.

Many in the Body of Christ are beaten down by a bad self-image received through their parents, circumstances, passed hurts that keep them wounded. A wounded soldier never stays on the front lines where they were designed for. Believers must position themselves to allow the Holy Ghost Hospital – the church to bring healing to wounds so they become scars for His glory. Worthiness is not based on what happened to you, your degrees, your accomplishments or even your mistakes. Worthiness is firmly knowing you are created in the image of God who loves you. Let the seeds of greatness He placed there germinate in you this year. Galatians 2:20 “It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.”

Second is keeping your mind.

Many in the Body of Christ have lost their mind, given it to something else: fear, guilt, shame, anger or unforgiveness. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of the world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way “you think”. Then you will know what God wants you to do and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is. Romans 12:2. Remember keep your mind! The battle is won or lost there.

Third you must be all in.

The people that finish well are not perfect, they just don’t quit. Caleb and Joshua believed God, set themselves to receive their inheritance although it took 40 years. The prize is not given to the swift but those who finish the race. 2 Timothy 4:6-8. Be a finisher!

We have left the starting line of a new year. Beginning again always gives us opportunity to reset our priorities. Remember a harvest is always determined by the seeds you sow in the areas of your time, your talent, and your tithe. We are a church who has a giving heart because we are children of a God who blesses us extravagantly. Read what God says about those in His Kingdom who give.

2 Cor. 9:6-7. “God loves, takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, a cheerful giver whose heart is in his giving.”

If you are a regular attendee of City Bible Church, realize that your weekly or bi-weekly giving is so important to the regular expenses and special outreaches of City Bible Church. If you miss a Sunday, please be faithful to make it up when you return so that we can be good stewards in this community, keeping timely with our monthly expenses and commitments.

Thank youfor your continued support of the ministry here at City Bible Church! Each new year brings new opportunities to grow and stretch and be a blessing! And God in turn will richly bless and reward you!

Blessings,

Pastor Berry Carter
